Eating Locally with the 100-mile diet.

Eating locally makes sense. It saves fossil fuels and reconnects you with your local community of farmers.

Alisa Smith and James MacKinnon from Vancouver, BC took on the project of eating only food grown within 100 miles of where they live. They committed to a full year experiment.

The results of their experiment led them to write a book, "The 100-Mile Diet: A Year of Local Eating." With the publication of their book in Spring '07 they hope to witness the birth of a movement.

Locally grown food is good for you health and good for the planet.
